Re: Porquette Due 6/5 **Straw Down** « Result #2 on Jun 23, 2008, 11:07pm »
Hello,
The vet just left we are bummed out. She is healthy but there is no foal in there. She apparently slipped and another folicle adheared and got stuck so she got an ovarian cyst, which gave her a false pregnancy. We gave her a shot and we popped the cyst so she should cycle normally. She was making the milk and bagging oh I feel like a idiot I have been sleeping on the couch setting the alarm and getting up to do checks on her. Oh well we live and we learn. hey at least I can sleep in my bed tonight.
But we now have Promise on cam and she is definetly in foal and due July 17th she is so huge started making a bag. So we will only have one foal this year so thats ok. This is also her last foal there will be no more for this gal.

I think the entire country is in dire straits. We are "water-logged" up here. The agriculture economy will not be good as most can not get crops in the ground. I wonder about you guys and your hay as I think, no, I KNOW the price of hay will sky-rocket this year. I think everyone will be lucky to get one cutting of hay this year rather than 2. We ususally put up hay around the 4th of July. Still waiting on Porquette. She thinks we'll all get bored with watching her and THEN decide to have it. Congrats to M&M on their potential adopting. Love to all & Good Luck, Aunt Evelyn

I am SO ready to come back down your way!!! Today, here in Lubbock, we tied our record high of 105. When I looked at the "West Texas Mezonet" put together by Texas Tech on their 5 minute observations, there was only 1 town out of the 30-or-so listed that did NOT have a tripple digit temp. at 5:30.
And like Aunt Evelyn, I am still waiting on Porquette. I have her up in a small window off to the side at work and at home.

Hi Smith Family! WE'RE WAITING!!!! We watch Porquette every time we're near the computer...Dean even looks while at work. I know you all must be very tired from watching and waiting. I have decided that the colt will be born June 12 as that was my father's birthday. Typical female....she will do it in her own sweet time! Good Luck and love to all. Aunt Evelyn

I know that I was told to bite my toung on this, but I am really thinking that she watched Promise too much last year. Now she is trying to keep us guessing just as long or longer, although she still has a long ways (like a month) before she out does Promise. lol Marlenda

Porquette is VERY agitated tonight. Her bag is still is not quite full yet, but from what I can tell that is the only thing that is not pointing to an imminent delivery. We all know how a mare loves to keep us guessing, but my guess is within the next 24 to 48 hours. Last year she delivered right on her due date, and today is her due date, so we may be looking at tonight. Only she knows for sure.

Hello,
Porquette is right on target getting very uncomfortable, she has been laying down alot and rubbing her bum, plus some belly kicking. We have her in all day and night she did not even get mad when she had to stay in today. I had her out for a little while grazing on some grass. This is a mare that loves her pasture buddies, she is so calm and love one me please today. I think she is ready now if she would just foal. I am excited to see if she clones herself this time.
So I hope she goes soon

Porquette Due 6/5 **False Pregnancy** « Result #13 on Jun 1, 2008, 10:23pm »
Hey everyone. Porquette TV is back in action at Meadow Winds Farm. We will have her on cam every evening starting at around 9:00 PM Eastern. And like last year, if you tune in an hour earlier, you will see us doing the nightly barn chores. The lights are on a timer for now and shut off around midnight, but with the new cam, you can still see pretty well. When the time gets closer, we will have her in the stall 24 hours a day, but for now, she is still enjoying her days in the pasture with her buddy Promises. She is already bagging up good, some occasional belly kicks, and the likes. When there are more updates, we will definitely pass them on.

It is just too quiet around here!!!!
Come on, everybody. Don't be shy. Since you are here reading this, say hello (or something).
For those who know me, I wanted to pass on a little info. It really looks like we will FINALLY be licensed to Foster/Adopt!!!!!! YAHOO!!!!!!! We only lack having our environmental inspection, and we have already started the home study. We had the first "interview" (more like just a chat) last night here at the house. That only leave our individual interviews with the caseworker, then she can write our home study "book". Once those 2 things are finished, they can start placing kids with us. For now, we only want to work with kiddos aged birth to 5 years until we get our feet wet. Then hopefully one of them will become available for adoption.
